| 2008 People's Choice Writing Competition |
| Guidelines |
1. Writers must be age 15 or older.
2. Choose one art entry to write about in the People’s Choice
Exhibit currently on display at the Meridian Museum of Art. However,
you can enter the writing competition more than once.
3. The name and number of the selected art piece must be
included on the title page, along with the title of the written piece,
name of writer and your contact information. Please include your
name, address, email and phone number. (The name of the writer
MUST NOT be typed on the actual entry.).
4. The submission piece may be a poem no longer than 32 lines,
or prose in 500 words or less.
5. Type entries double-spaced and in 12 pt. using either Arial or
New Times Roman.
6. There is no entry fee for Guild members. A $7.00 fee is required
for all other entrants. Please include a check or cash with your entry.
7. All entries must be received by July 7th, 2008. Mail your entry
to : Mississippi Writers Guild, P.O. Box 3845, Meridian, MS 39303-3845
8. Winners of the contest will be announced on July 12th at the
Meridian Museum of Art gala awards reception. There will be prizes:
first place-$100.00; second place-$50.00; third place-$25.00.
9. Entries will be judged by competent writers. All entrants will
receive written critiques from the Mississippi Writers Guild.
Remember, manuscripts must reveal relation to the selected art piece.
